Quispe's Amazon Birth

$0.00

I’ve come “alive," for you to warn.
In the Amazon forest I was born.
Deep in the Quechan jungle,
not in mirth, but in struggle.
‘Tween good and evil my soul torn.

From your civilization, I was far away.
A distant land. A different day.
I can live the way I choose.
Your beliefs, do not, I amuse.
To your God’s I do not Pray.

But we all walk that slippery slope,
be we sinner or holy pope.
Do we question with every voice?
Do we really have a choice?
Can we self determine hope?

I am resin, papier-mâché, rusted metal, ceramic, beads, mummified fish tail, butterfly wings, and the jaw of a small mammal from Palau. My tall “neck” is raku. I am decorated In acrylic and gouache paint and am sealed with clear enamel. My base is red granite.
