Escaping The Quarantine

Third month Twenty twenty, quarantined was I.

Behind Peachy walls, neath ceiling, roof, sky.

A cocoon of protection, from Covid storm’s eye.

On advice of the WHO, the powers that be

recommended we shelter, how long? We would see.

This quarantine lasted, one month, two, then three.

Living on Netflix, martinis and s’mores.

Exercising, eating, drinking and doing some chores.

Could only dream of sailing beyond Biscayne’s Shores.

In my mind’s eye I ventured to the Atlantic Sea.

In search of freedom, wind, waves and mahi.

My good friend Jack, MET, Lunasea and me.

Miles out in the gulf stream, in my mind’s eye.

Off in the distance, diving birds we did spy.

To the dolphins, to the dolphins, I imagined “banzai.”

One hippurus, then another, we boated with glee.

Imagination, it appears, not reality is key.

To survive quarantination, avoid lunacy.
